Michael
Discover the making of a king.
|
Warwick Student Cinema is offering you front row seats to the King of Pop like you’ve never seen him before. Michael follows the legacy and lyricism of one of, if not THE, most influential artists to grace the stage. Making his film debut, Jafar Jackson steps into the mighty moonwalking shoes of his uncle, Michael Jackson. Beginning at the family kitchen table, the Jackson Five introduced a face that will never be forgotten. Yet tensions rise as the star wants to make an image of his own. Colman Domingo depicts Joe Jackson and his domineering presence over the Jackson siblings and what they strive for. Building his confidence beyond the family act, the film will follow Michael Jackson facing the man in the mirror as the spotlight of a solo career brightens. However, don’t tread to your seat lightly. Audiences have been assured this will not be a sanitised insight into Jackson’s life, with producer Graham King wanting to ‘present the most compelling, unbiased story’. Join us behind the stage curtain as we see the real Jackson. In the era of the biopic, music royalty has been waiting for his turn. Will the film do the King of Pop justice? Will this encourage film makers to emulate the likes of Britney? Madonna? From the producers of Bohemian Rhapsody, from Mercury to Michael, it’s safe to say the story is in secure hands. Come along with a friend and some snacks to this thriller of a film. And if you find yourself dancing… don’t blame it on the sunshine, moonlight or good times, blame it on the movie!
