The Super Mario Galaxy Movie
The galaxy awaits.

Wahoo. It's a Mario Galaxy Movie, a Mamma Mia. Muy bueno. I think I slipped into Spanish there. I do not know Italian. Well, that's fine because this is the long-awaited sequel to The Super Mario Bros Movie, the smash-hit film from Illumination. A film that turned out to be actually pretty decent, in spite of numerous things that could've held it back. The sequel was announced not too long after the first, with a tease of the galaxy (and the Yoshi) to come. The casting announcements increased the hype, with bold as hell choices. This begs the question of course, does this film live up to its predecessor. Well... Much like the first film in this (let's be honest, we know where this is heading) series of films, this one has some outstanding animation. It looks great, with the galaxy itself being the definite highlight. The moments where it takes time to actually do interesting things with the visuals are really good and it's nice to spend time exploring the galaxy. The references, much like the first, are rewarding for long-time fans of the franchise and the voice performances of Jack Black, Glen Powell and Donald Glover are really entertaining as well (you can tell they had a blast recording their lines), plus Benny Safdie is also in this for some reason, and he can be good. It’s a very fun time to be had by all! The references will have you hyped and the animation will look great, and maybe that's all we need to have a ton of fun.
