Review:

An epic ode to cinema and dreams. Set in a future where humanity has stopped dreaming, and those that still dream are considered monsters called Deliriants, Bi Gan’s Resurrection crafts a tender poetic tale that unfolds over 5-6 chapters, capturing the different senses as we witness the memories of one dying deliriant. Gorgeous cinematography, elaborate production design and an incredible multi-role performance by Jackson Yee, this film takes you on a journey that completely hypnotizes you. Watching the memories of the Deliriant, the story examines the different eras of cinema in parallel with the limitless potential for life through our everyday relationships. Bi Gan never fully gives us any answers, leaving it up to us to figure out the film for ourselves. It is a true cinematic experience that deserves to be watched in the cinema, under the dark lights, in the illusion of the screen. This film stays with you long after the credits roll and sometimes comes back in mind during those late nights when we are left with our own thoughts.
