The Dark Knight AllNighter
Why so serious?
The Dark Knight Trilogy is one of the most enduring cornerstones of one of the most popular genres of our time. Directed by the visionary Christopher Nolan, each film is fantastic, and reshaped Hollywood’s understanding of the mythologies of superheroes. Nothing was the same after The Dark Knight was released, and rightly so, because that film in particular remains one of the greatest achievements in 21st century blockbusting led by one of my all-time favourite performances in Heath Ledger as The Joker. I would also like to make a case for The Dark Knight Rises as an under-appreciated blast of an epic, more monolithic in scale and pathos than many of its kind, and one that will thrill you back awake at 3am. I saw this trilogy at an IMAX all-nighter a few years ago and I have to say it’s one hell of a ride. Each film is more distinct from the other than you probably remember, and each film is a riveting challenge to the moral code of one of the greatest, most enduring superhero figures in cinema. An incredible trilogy of films, this will be an awesome all-nighter well worth sacrificing your sleep for. This has been a heavily requested trilogy, and here we present it to you in all of L3’s large, loud, sleep-destroying glory.
