FREE FOR EVERYONE: Orlando
Virginia Woolf's classic of queer feminist literature follows Orlando, a young nobleman and poet originally born in the 1500s, who, as the centuries go on, never seems to age. In this time, Orlando travels across the world, until one day he wakes from a seven-day-long sleep and finds that he has transformed into a woman. Sally Potter’s gorgeous adaptation feels just as timeless as its protagonist, from the stunning costumes and cinematography to the central performance by Tilda Swinton as Orlando and the occasional knowing fourth wall break. It's a landmark of queer cinema and perfectly fitted to our LGBTQ+ history month season — and, on 35mm film, it's the perfect chance to rewatch or to discover a brand new favourite.
