Review:

Are you holding space for this one? Wicked: For Good follows up what was possibly the biggest cinematic event of 2024, continuing the story of the Witches of Oz as Elphaba makes her grand exit and Glinda is accepted into the folds of high society. Part two of the duology sees Oz-wide witch-hunts for our green protagonist, the famous journey of Dorothy and friends down the yellow brick road, and some of the original musical’s most iconic songs brought to life on the big screen. Defying Gravity was everywhere last year following the Wickedmania brought about by the first film; it’s now For Good, a tear-jerking musical moment of tenderness between the two witches, which serves as the flagship tune of Wicked: For Good. With such a powerful soundtrack, as well as stunning visuals and an out-of-this-world wardrobe, there’s no doubt it is just as enchanting, colorful, and thrillifying as the first installment.

The number of stars in the cast also promises a stellar movie, as superstars Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo are joined by beloved names such as Colman Domingo (revealed in October to be voicing the Cowardly Lion). One thing’s for sure: whether you’ve already seen it twenty times or not, this will be the most fun you and your friends will have in the cinema this term.
