Review:

Jane Schoenbrun saw their feature directorial debut in 2021 with We’re All Going to the World’s Fair, describing this as the first of their ‘Screen Trilogy’ (with I Saw the TV Glow following in 2024, and the third instalment yet to be produced). This story follows Casey and her attempt to participate in the online “World’s Fair Challenge”. Casey documents her disturbing experience following the game, uploading it for the world to see. WAGTTWF is a coming of age movie like no other, with a current rating of 91% on Rotten Tomatoes. Where big-budget big-name Netflix-owns take centre stage, this movie explores the psychological horror and drama behind growing up in a world online, something I'm sure many 2000s babies can relate to.
