Savages
|
Another beautifully animated film from Claude Barras, the director of My Life as a Courgette, Savages is the story of Kéria, a girl living with her father in a plantation in Borneo. Their little life suddenly changes when Kéria adopts an orphaned monkey and her indigenous cousin comes to stay with them. What follows is a touching film about the dangers of the forced urbanisation of ‘savage’ lands. The stop-motion animation is vibrant and so fluid, and offers a welcome change from conventional animation styles. Though it was slow at times, Savages is a lovely little film well-worth your time.
