Eddington
Hindsight is 2020
|
Ever thought what a western would be like set during the COVID pandemic? Nor have I, until the release of Eddington, Ari Aster’s 4th feature length film. After the interesting and divisive release of Beau is Afraid, Aster has doubled-down with the neo-Western, black comedy that is Eddington. Aster has called Joaquin Phoenix back to play Joe Cross, the Sheriff of Eddington, in New Mexico. The film dives into the social and political tensions between Sheriff and Mayor Ted Garcia (played by the amazing Pedro Pascal) and how interpersonal relationships warps and cracks their political lenses. Conspiracies and paranoia consume Eddington, with ruthless satire Aster confronts our fractured reality with a shattered mirror.
