The Naked Gun
The Law's reach never stretched this far
|
The original Naked Gun trilogy is one of the great treasures of the comedy genre. Witty, absurdly stupid, very very VERY funny. From the team behind Airplane, with one of the all-time great comedic characters in Leslie Nielsen’s Lt. Frank Drebin, this reboot had some huge shoes to fill, which it somehow does! This is an unashamedly silly movie with so many jokes that it’s impossible not to laugh at almost all of them. Liam Neeson is a fantastic successor to Nielsen, with the most perfectly straight-faced delivery of some absolutely absurd material. It ably captures the spirit of the original films while poking fun at the modern day and Hollywood’s current obsession with legacy sequels. At a mere 85 minutes long, it is a wonderful time in the cinema (especially one like ours!), laughing with friends and a crowd on the big screen, where comedies belong! Look out for an especially fantastic scene with a snowman. This is a bonkers, deranged comedy that is impossible to dislike. Most importantly of all, it is seriously funny.
