Review:

Danny Boyle returns to direct the long-awaited sequel in the 28 Days Later franchise. In this instalment, the story takes place 28 years after the rage virus has decimated the UK, having turned most of the population into anger-filled, flesh-hungry zombies. Our protagonist, Spike, knows nothing of the old world, only the small community that he grew up in and the inhuman threat that lurks outside. Venturing outside, he learns about the changed world and the secrets being kept from him back home. The film features stunning cinematography and fantastic performances from young star Alfie Williams, as well as Jodie Comer and Ralph Fiennes. As a commentary on Brexit, having the UK cut off from the rest of the world in quarantine, the film explores isolation, grief and loss that brings a tenderness to the harsh setting. With a cliffhanger like that at the end, we can’t wait to see what the next film has in store.
