Review:

After a decade in development hell, the movie that our entire generation has been waiting for is finally here. The trailers might not have been what we expected, but who cares, it’s a Minecraft movie! This should be a no-brainer for any fan of the game, which is basically all of us, and promises to be a fun, silly adventure. Jack Black as Steve is a hilarious but fun casting choice, and I can’t wait to see him bring his delightfully zany energy to a figure who has always been personality-less. Black and Jason Momoa are certain to be a very fun comedic pairing. Taking a more ‘realistic’ approach to the visual design of Minecraft, the film looks to be a real spectacle too, encountering all of our favourite mobs (chicken jockey!) and biomes along the way. Who knows if this will be any good, but I know I will be seated for it with my friends in L3, and so should you! And in the words of some random Minecraft YouTuber our Films Officer Freya met: ‘it was funny’.
